The one thing nice which I was happy about was the view.
Beautiful location close to some great hiking. Friendly staff and good food available on site. Be ready to be disconnected though, no cell phone service and very limited wifi connectivity. The rooms are clean but small, and the walls and ceilings are thin, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.
Beautiful vacation spot along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The food in the lodge is quite food, there are tons of amazing hikes, and overlooks nearby. It also sits next to a lake which is a fun place to relax by. It's been years since I last actually slept there so take this with a grain of salt, but I remember the rooms being decent. Nothing to write home about. Overall an amazing place to visit!
All in all - great stay for a night. We would come back again.
Every room has a beautiful view of Peaks of Otter Lake and Sharp Top Mountain. Several excellent hikes at a stone's throw. Convenient location just off Blue Ridge Parkway. A peaceful retreat to lay ones head. WiFi was non-operational during our stay but so what? Unplug, slow down, breathe deeply. The Blue Ridge Mountains beckon.
With our main dish we also ordered the salad bar. The two soups at the salad bar they were offering had only one soup available the entire time we were there, Which was not all that bad but some of the cheery tomatoes were rotten and the seafood salad had added a pickled spice which i think they had no idea.
Really enjoyed staying here. The pluses are the gorgeous scenery. The lake, mountains, deer, and sitting out on our little balcony looking at the stars at night was so peaceful and we loved it. The decor and rustic feeling in the lodge and restaurant areas was awesome! Loved the big fireplaces and front porch rocking chairs! Wonderful paths around with lights at night to mark the way. Negatives- no cell phone reception, rooms need to be updated some, but are still comfy. No refrigerator in rooms.
Although we were not hotel patrons we did have a late lunch there. Our experience was terrible, I start off with the waiter which reminded me of having to be waited on in Jamaica. I think you know what I mean. He was scarce.
